Join us for the Bath Junior Chess Club 2nd RapidPlay Competition – a friendly and competitive day of chess for junior players of all abilities.
The tournament is open to all junior chess players, whether or not they are members of a chess club. Players from across the UK are very welcome.
Entry: £15 per player
Places are limited and entries close on Monday 21st September 2026. Unfortunately, late entries cannot be accepted.

The competition will consist of 6 rounds.
Time Control: 15 minutes + 5-second increment per move
Timings
09:30 – Players arrive and register
10:00 – Games commence
16:00 approximately – Prize giving
Please ensure players arrive in plenty of time to register before the first round.
Prizes & Certificates
We want every young player to leave feeling proud of what they have achieved.
Every child who competes will receive a certificate, with trophies and medals awarded to top finishers.
Whether this is your child’s first tournament or they are an experienced competitive player, the RapidPlay is a great opportunity to enjoy chess, challenge themselves and meet other young players.
Who Can Enter?
You do not need to be a member of Bath Junior Chess Club to take part.
The tournament is open to junior players from any chess club – or no club at all – and we welcome entries from players across the UK.
All participants should be registered with, or in the process of joining, the English Chess Federation (ECF).
Refreshments
Refreshments will be available from the kitchen at the venue throughout the day.
There are also several cafés and restaurants within easy walking distance of the school.
Getting There & Parking
Widcombe Junior School is approximately a 10-minute walk from Bath Spa railway station and Bath bus station.
If travelling by car, SouthGate multi-storey car park is conveniently located next to the railway station.
Please be aware that parking at the venue is very limited. Additional parking spaces become available at a nearby rugby club from approximately 3:00 pm.

Spaces are limited, so we recommend registering as early as possible.
Entry closes Monday 21st September 2026. Late entries cannot be accepted.
Once your booking is complete and payment has been received, your entry confirmation will be sent automatically by email. Please ensure you enter the correct email address when completing your order.

By registering a child for the tournament, the parent or guardian accepts responsibility for their child’s well-being during the event.
Please note: Tournament entry fees are non-refundable in the event of non-attendance.
